Cupping Therapy
Cupping therapy in Traditional Chinese Medicine is used to treat a vast range of ailments. It treats pain, stimulates detoxification, loosen phlegm in the lungs and improve overall circulation. This technique draws toxins out of the body where the immune system easily can eliminate them. After the treatment, one can have temporary skin discoloration, called petechiae. This indicates improved blood flow and will naturally dissipate after a few days. Cupping marks do not hurt.
There are two cupping techniques: fire cupping and suction cupping. At Sinosoins Clinic, we use fire cupping where cups are being put to the skin using a flame to create a vacuum. There is no benefit to using one technique over the other. The cups stay in place for around 10-15 minutes and will not cause discomfort or pain.
