Pregnancy & Labour

Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture provide a safe and natural alternative to improve maternal and baby’s health, and alleviate pregnancy concerns like:

Nausea and Vomiting

Acupuncture decreases mild to moderate cases of nausea and vomiting caused by pregnancy Approximately 50% of all pregnant women experience some form of nausea or vomiting.

Fatigue

Fatigue is a normal side effect during pregnancy. As the body changes to grow the baby, staying healthy is very important during pregnancy. Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture provide a safe way to ensure you have the nutrients needed to support your body.

Pain

The two common forms of pain experienced during pregnancy are low back pain and pelvic girdle pain. The pain of stretching muscles, increased weight and change in the body can be managed with Traditional Chinese Medicine and Massage Therapy.

Labour Induction Acupuncture

Labour induction acupuncture is used to ensure proper positioning of the baby as he/she descends into the birth canal. It is also a safe and natural alternative to western pharmaceutical drugs like Pitocin to induce labour.

How Can Labour Induction Acupuncture Help?

Acupuncture is a natural and safe way to help you and your baby progress naturally towards labour and delivery. Labour induction acupuncture works to promoting blood flow throughout the body, decrease emotional stress and trigger uterine contractions to help the baby to descend into the pelvis.

New moms who have had labour induction acupuncture prior to labour experience a higher chance of delivering naturally and consistent dilation during labour. A study conducted by Harper TC and Others, published in the Journal of Maternal Fetal and Neonatal Medicine (2006) found that 70% of women who received acupuncture went into labour on their own, compared to 50% who received standard care. The women who received acupuncture were also less likely to deliver by caesarean section 39% compared to 17%.

Treatment success rates vary from individuals. Some require just one treatment while other may require several treatments.
